The Royal Yacht Britannia

Once upon a time, the Royal Yacht Britannia sailed the high seas, conveying Her Majesty to official engagements throughout the Commonwealth in style. The boat’s seafaring days may now be over, but it hasn’t lost any of its splendour since assuming a permanent berth along the Shore of Leith. Dubbed Scotland’s Best Attraction by VisitScotland, the Queen’s floating royal residence is a wondrous vessel with a fascinating history. Launched from the John Brown & Company shipyard in Clydebank in 1953, the ship served the Royal Family faithfully for the next 44 years, clocking up over one million miles at sea in the process. Today, visitors can tour the ship and discover what a typical day at sea would have been like for the Queen. The five-star attraction, named the UK’s number one visitor attraction by TripAdvisor, promises an enthralling day out – one that will fire imaginations young and old as they peer into a regal realm that was once off-limits to the general public. After touring the magnificent vessel, an array of charming china, glassware, chocolate and toys can be found in the gift shop, which is stocked to the gunnels with Royal-themed trinkets and curios galore.

A very good few hours spent. Remininising about the once, Great United Kingdom. Pomp and ceremony, pre 1997 and Tony Traitor Blair. Pre the EU. A historic reminder if how great our nation once was. Beautiful walk back to recent history. And you're allowed to touch and sit far more freely than usual on these kind if tours. 5/5. The only thin that would make it better. Is if the socialists gave it back to Her Majesty.
